Betsy Karas, LCMHC

Betsy Karas is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with the state of North Carolina obtaining full licensure in 7/01/1995. Betsy is excited to be practicing at the Carolina Psychology Center and is currently accepting new patients. She is providing telehealth during the COVID pandemic.

Betsy enjoys working with all ages, and is passionate about assisting young adults in managing emotional difficulties and life transitions. Her focus if to provide an atmosphere of trust and unconditional positive regard to encourage individuals to begin their journey in dealing with difficult times. Betsy’s hope is to encourage the development of effective coping skills to reduce problems related to anxiety, depression, stress and difficult life events. She has provided individual, family and group therapy in various clinical settings utilizing treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing.

In her personal life Betsy values the importance of staying active, being mindful of the present and enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, playing cards, gardening, snow skiing and traveling.

Betsy has served adults, adolescents and children in an out-patient clinical setting for over 25 years. Betsy received her B.A. in Psychology and Master of Human Development and Learning, both from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has over 40 years experience serving adults, adolescents and children through various positions in the field of Social Work prior to beginning out-patient therapy.
